Occupy Wall Street Takes on Times Square

“Tell me what democracy looks like? This is what democracy looks like!”

“How do we end our deficit? End the war, tax the rich!”

“All day, all week, Occupy Wall Street!”

To anyone who’s been attending, or in my case covering, the Occupy Wall Street protests, these chants have become the well-known chorus of this movement, buoying the hopes and frustrations of those involved, however varied they may be.

#OWS is a growing movement, and on Saturday, it culminated in a world-wide global day of action. People gathered in Times Square to take the message to another part of NYC that is a site of business and commerce.

A number of high-profile personalities and celebrities have been adding their voices to this chorus, and on Saturday, it truly felt like this energy, or force of people, may indeed make the dent it’s looking to create.
