Entertainment Express: Tony Scott, Rihanna, Beyonce, Willie Nelson, Nicki Minaj, John Lennon’s Killer


* Filmmaker Tony Scott has died at the age of 68. He’s alleged to committed suicide by jumping off an LA bridge on Sunday afternoon. The director, writer, producer and cinematographer, who is also the younger brother of Ridley, gave us a number of classic films, from Top Gun to Enemy of the State, True Romance, Beverly Hills Cop 2, Crimson Tide, and more. He had reportedly been working on a Top Gun 2 in recent days.

* The United Nations says it achieved its goal of reaching a billion people with its World Humanitarian Day message, using Beyonce’s music video for I Was Here, the theme for this year’s initiative.

* Rihanna told Oprah in an interview that aired in the US on Sunday night that she has forgiven Chris Brown for his abusive behaviour, and that they’re still friends, following the Grammys incident in 2009.

* 79-year-old Willie Nelson and 29-year-old Nicki Minaj have both had to cancel shows due to illness – Nelson as a result of issues with his breathing, Minaj for vocal chord problems.

* Mark David Chapman, the man who killed John Lennon, is up for parole this week, for the seventh time.
