Entertainment Express: Soweto Gospel Choir, Jay-Z, Beyonce & Obama, The Oscars, Innocence of Muslims, The Killers

Soweto Gospel Choir

* Soweto Gospel Choir has lost one of its founding members – Vusi Madondo died after contracting TB 6 weeks ago, according to the group’s manager. One of the favourites of the Grammy-winning choir, Madondo’s bass tone and friendly smile will be missed.

* Jay-Z and Beyonce helped raise a cool $4 million dollars towards US President Barack Obama’s campaign, by hosting a fundraising shindig in NYC on Tuesday night. Obama also popped by the Late Show with David Letterman.

* The Oscars are shaking things up next year. Along with the introduction of e-voting, the Academy has announced it will reveal the nominees 5 days earlier in 2013, impacting on the rest of awards season.

* There are questions as to whether the film that spawned anti-American action in the Middle East, Innocence of Muslims, actually exists.

* September is the month of new music releases! The Killers debuted Battle Born with a show in NY directed by Werner Herzog, and Band of Horses, Dave Matthews Band, Grizzly Bears and Kanye West’s G.O.O.D compilation have all been sent out into the music ether over the past couple of days too.
