Entertainment Express: Chad Le Clos, Michael Douglas, Cuba Gooding Jr, The Academy, Gore Vidal, MTV Video Music Awards

* Providing some of the best entertainment around, this year’s Olympics have made Michael Phelps the most decorated Olympian in history – with 19 medals, 15 of those gold. He did, however, lose out on gold in the 200m butterfly. That victory belonged to South African swimmer – 20-year-old Chad Le Clos.

* The first pics have surfaced of Michael Douglas as Liberace and Matt Damon as his younger lover. Cannot wait for the film, Behind the Candelabra.

* Author, playwright, screenwriter Gore Vidal has died at the age of 86.

* The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has elected a new president, Wayne’s World and Collateral Damage producer Hawk Koch, who’ll oversee the Oscars and other such important business.

* A warrant of arrest was issued for Cuba Gooding Jr, following an incident in New Orleans.

* Oh, and in case you missed them, the MTV Video Music Awards will pit collaborators Rihanna and Drake against each other, as both vie for 5 awards, with Katy Perry looking to pick up 4. Coldplay, Beyonce, and Jay-Z and Kanye West’s The Throne are all up for 3, at the ceremony taking place in LA in September.
