A Night of 110 Stories – Stars to Remember 9/11

9/11 Memorial

It’s almost hard to believe that it’s been nearly 10 years since 9/11 happened. The area around the World Trade Center is going through much construction and building to create the memorial where the lives of those that died that day will be forever remembered in architecture and space, at the site where one of the attacks occurred.

South African-born LA-based actor Stelio Savante lived in New York for 15 years, before moving to the West Coast, and was in the city when the events of that day unfolded. In the years following, Savante has been involved in producing a play called 110 Stories, which features readings of first-hand accounts of the tragedy.

Last year it was performed in LA at the Geffen Playhouse, with proceeds going to LA Red Cross for Haiti relief. The production’s playwright and creative producer Sarah Tuft says “it’s the human side of history, without politics and agenda, giving voice to those who experienced 9/11 directly.”

110 Stories will be staged in New York, in the run-up to the 10th Anniversary of 9/11, where Savante will perform alongside an all-star cast, including Billy Crudup, Edie Falco, Melissa Leo, Chris Noth, Susan Sarandon, Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Kathleen Turner. They will be joined by Oscar-nominee Gabourey Sidibe, Ben Vereen, Lauren Ambrose, Andre Braugher, Assif Mandvi, Vincent Piazza, Andre Royo, Pablo Schreiber, Michael Stuhlbarg & Merritt Wever.

Proceeds from the event will go to the New York Says Thank You Foundation, which was started to transform the 9/11 Anniversary into a platform for national volunteer service. Savante is producing the event with Samira Qureshi, Cori Silberman & has recruited Ryan Heil to executive produce through his company, LiveStyle Entertainment.

The benefit performances will take place in New York on Sept 8th & 9th at NYU’s 870 seat Skirball Center for the Performing Arts in Manhattan.
