Culture Film Miss N

The Dude Abides

Who woulda thought – a film about a rug, The Dude (who owns the rug), White Russians and bowling would go onto to become one of the most classic cult films of all time. I present to you The Big Lebowski, now out on limited edition Blu-ray.

To celebrate, the cast – Jeff Bridges, John Goodman, Julianne Moore, Steve Buscemi and John Turturro – re-united on Tuesday evening in New York City. It was also the same night that Mr Bridges released his self-titled second album, thirteen years in the making. Before the movies, there was the music. So, plenty of reason for cheers all round!

Take a listen to some of the audio from Jeff, Julianne and John that I caught on the red carpet:

These are the two guys who started LebowskiFest Scott Shuffitt and Will Russell back in 2002. They were just so thrilled to see how much their tiny little festival has grown over the years.

If there’s one way to watch The Big Lebowski, it’s with a whole venue full of fans, dressed in robes and jelly shoes, shouting out lines from the film in time with the characters, while you sip on a White Russian.

Yeah, man!

The Big Lebowski limited edition is out now on Blu-ray.

  1. One of my favorite films! Is there any video and/or coverage of the (specifically the Q&A) available online? I’d have loved to have been there.

  2. Thanks for the helpful article. It is also my belief that mesothelioma cancer has an particularly long latency phase, which means that the signs of the disease won’t emerge right up until 30 to 50 years after the initial exposure to asbestos. Pleural mesothelioma, and that is the most common type and has effects on the area throughout the lungs, might cause shortness of breath, chest pains, plus a persistent cough, which may produce coughing up bloodstream.
