The 54th Annual Grammy Awards – aka The One Where Adele is Rolling in the Deep
It was a night to remember one of music’s biggest stars – Whitney Houston – but it also belonged to an artist who no doubt was influenced by the late singer’s vocal prowess. Adele won all 6 of the awards she had been nominated for – making her the unofficial Queen of the Grammys. 21 was last year’s top-selling album with more than 6 million copies sold and held its grip on the No. 1 spot on the charts.
The evening started on a positive note, with an opening prayer, led by LL Cool J, before going into a video clip of Houston singing I Will Always Love You at the Grammys in 1994. Jennifer Hudson, who was herself presented with her first Grammy in 2009 by Houston, sang the song in gentle tribute.
