The 2014 Golden Globes

Steve McQueen’s beaming smile after winning Best Film, Drama at the Golden Globes (courtesy of the Golden Globes Instagram account), is as wide as it should be.  The 12 Years A Slave director has made a moving, artistic piece of cinematic history. The night’s other top prize, in the ‘Comedy’ category, went to American Hustle, which also scored Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress for Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence, respectively.  Dallas Buyers Club earned Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto Best Actor, Drama and Best Supporting Actor, respectively. No doubt we’ll see these names come Thursday, when the Oscars are announced.

PS The Tina Fey/Amy Poehler opening was fantastic, especially the joke about George Clooney and Gravity.
