Dr Seuss, aka Theodore Geisel, is an author loved by children and adults alike. My favourite story-book from him is Oh, The Places You’ll Go. Until that gets made into a movie, I found myself really enjoying The Lorax – and its main message.
I spoke to the cast, and when Danny DeVito wasn’t talking about Die Antwoord, got some great insights from them on going green and being environmentally friendly. What I like about the story is that Dr Seuss came up with it while he was in Tanzania, and was overcome by the beauty of the Serengeti. He wrote 90% of the story, there and then, and it’s just as relevant now as it was 40-years ago.
Take a listen to Zac Efron, Taylor Swift, Danny DeVito, Ed Helms and director Chris Renaud.
It seems like there is no end to the high-profile, big-name fans Die Antwoord are collecting. While talking to Danny DeVito for The Lorax earlier today, the actor, at the end of our interview, asked me about “that guy and the girl band from South Africa”. In return, I asked if he caught their appearance on David Letterman last night (see Exhibit A below).
His response follows after the video.
You can just hear the disappointment in his voice:
The tape stopped rolling but I asked him if he understood the lyrics, since many of them are in Afrikaans and he said “yeah”.
“That guy is so good – he’s really clever,” Danny said, before adding, “and the girl, she just keeps repeating the same thing over and over. I love it!”
I almost missed my next interview – with Zac Efron – because Mr DeVito kept talking about the group. Let’s hope he manages to catch them on their American tour, which kicks off on Thursday. We wouldn’t want him to be disappointed again!
