The Killers

Back from TIFF, and back into non-festival life…

The Killers are celebrating a decade since they played their first show in England (which launched them into music fame) with a greatest hits album that’ll feature two new tracks – one of which is the sublime Shot at the Night produced by M83’s Anthony Gonzalez.

* Fresh from dodging paparazzi (literally), Nicole Kidman can be seen as Grace Kelly in the trailer for the film, Grace of Monaco. She does get that regal look down pat, eh? Here’s hoping her turn as royalty works out better than her pal Naomi Watts did in the Diana biopic.

* Breaking Bad continues to up the ante – not just story-wise, but in ratings too. A record 6.4 million tuned in this past Sunday – a number that will no doubt rise for the September 29 finale.

* Daft Punk‘s music video for Lose Yourself to Dance is an ode to the simple joy of dance and fashion, thanks to the sparkling jackets created by Hedi Slimane of Saint Laurent.

* Nigerian director Andrew Dosunmu (Restless City), whose film Mother of George is currently showing in the US, will direct a biopic about Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti. It’ll be based on a 2000 book about the life and times of the African musical icon. Cannot wait!
