The Rundown

Entertainment Express: MTV Movie Awards, OutKast, Sue Townsend, Fault Within Our Stars

Hello from Los Angeles, where the MTV Movie Awards took place last night.

* The MTV Movie Awards handed out prestigious honours like Best Shirtless Performance and Best Kiss on Sunday night. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire won Movie of the Year, and also best actor and best actress for Josh Hutcherson and Jennifer Lawrence, respectively. South African band Kongos also scored when their song Come With Me Now was used as the opening number for host Conan O’Brien’s 50-celebrity-cameo spot.

* Coachella wrapped up Weekend 1 with the first of Outkast‘s many reunion shows. Seems the show was marred by a few technical issues, but also the lack of chemistry between the two, who haven’t performed together since 2012. Well, they have plenty of dates on their upcoming tour to get familiar with each other again.

* She gave the world Adrian Mole, and opened up his diary for teenagers all over the world, boys and girls, to connect with – British author Sue Townsend died late last week. Tributes continue to come in for the 68-year-old author, including this lovely one from actor David Walliams.

* The MTV Movie Awards gave us a few awkward moments but the show also gave us a new clip from the upcoming The Fault in Our Stars movie. The one-minute clip shows the film’s two main characters, played by Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort, getting to know each other on the day they first meet. No tearjerking moments in this one, but there no doubt will be many come June, when the film is released.
