* US President Barack Obama hosted a private screening of Lincoln at the White House last night, before the film officially opens this weekend.

* It’s a big movie weekend – Keira Knightley stars in Anna Karenina, which the NY Times calls a “brilliant gamble”, and the final installment of Twilight hits the big screen, after midnight screenings on Thursday.

* Sending good health vibes to The Killers – the band had to cancel England gigs after the lead singer lost his voice.

* He’s honed his skills behind the mic, now Dave Grohl will be honing his skills behind the camera, directing a documentary about the legendary Van Nuys studio where Nevermind was recorded.

* The man who helped Elvis Presley establish his style at the start of his career, Bernard Lansky, has died at the age of 85.
