Entertainment Express: Ed Lauter, Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, Miley Cyrus, Lorde, Donald Glover
The partial shutdown is over and a US debt default crisis has been averted – for now. Meanwhile, in Hollywoodland…
* Veteran character actor Ed Lautner, who appeared in more than 200 films and TV shows over the past 4 decades, has died at the age of 74 after contracting a rare form of cancer most commonly caused by asbestos exposure. Among his many roles was that of Berenice Bejo’s chauffeur in The Artist.
* Miley Cyrus made her wish to enter the chart at Number 1, with her album Bangerz, shifting 270,000 copies, and scoring the top spot on the Billboard 200 but New Zealand’s Lorde still holds onto that slot on the Hot 100 with Royals for a third week.
* …and Miley’s also been announced as a performer for the upcoming MTV European Music Awards, along with Katy Perry and The Killers. Here’s hoping she doesn’t feel the need to outdo the scandal factor of her VMA show.
* Heartfelt, strange, helpless…The entertainment world has been responding to the candid notes of insecurity penned on a hotel notepad by Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, detailing the reasons he left Community.
