The nominations have thrown a few curve-balls into what most expected would happen. No Best Supporting Actor nod for John Hawkes, no Director nod for Zero Dark Thirty‘s Kathryn Bigelow. But both Quvenzhane Wallis, 9 + Emmanuelle Riva, 85 were nominated, making them the youngest and oldest nominees in Oscar history.
