* The New York Film Festival goes 3D – debuting the new Ang Lee movie, Life of Pi, as its opening movie this September.

* Nine Nobel Laureates, including Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, have called on NBC to scrap the new TV show, Stars Earn Stripes, because it glorifies war and combat training, pitting so-called celebs against each other.

* Taylor Swift has released her new pop-centered single, We Are Never Ever Ever Getting Back Together, in which she promises to never get back together with an ex. Ever.

* After his split with Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson is heading into the public eye to promote his new movie, Cosmopolis, this week. He ate ice-cream with Jon Stewart on Monday night, and rang the opening bell of the New York Stock Exchange on Tuesday.

* And, in spite of the #NBCFail hashtag, the channel has reported the 2012 London Olympics were the most watched event in US history.
